Occupying an area of 47,715 square metres, KSTAR's new manufacturing base is located in Haiphong City, the largest port city in northern Vietnam. It is being built to expand the company's global manufacturing footprint and support long-term growth in the Asia-Pacific region. The project is being carried out in two phases.

Phase I, covering a construction area of 25,000 square metres, has officially reached structural completion, and interior work is currently underway. The facility is scheduled for completion in June and is expected to begin operations by the end of 2022, following the procurement, installation and commissioning of production equipment.

The new plant is projected to produce 10,000 UPS units, 1,000 modular data centre units and 1 GW of solar inverters annually. It is expected to create 200 jobs, generating significant social and economic benefits during the pandemic.

Construction of Phase II is expected to begin in 2024. The second-phase facility will primarily manufacture energy storage systems and electric vehicle charging equipment.

"We are pleased to mark another milestone for KSTAR as we close the first quarter of 2022. In response to KSTAR's rapid growth in the global market, this will be the first time we have used manufacturing facilities in Vietnam to increase production capacity. As one of the world's largest UPS manufacturers, we have been working to meet our clients' demand for more diversified manufacturing bases," said Mr Wang, KSTAR's project leader.

According to previous company statements, KSTAR began planning its Vietnam manufacturing plant in 2019. Upon completion, the facility will become the company's sixth manufacturing base and its first in Vietnam.

"This will greatly help meet overseas customers' delivery expectations and strengthen the company's competitive advantage in the industry," Mr Wang added.
