Kstar maintains No.1 in the Chinese UPS battery market

Chinese VRLA battery manufacturer Shenzhen Kstar Science & Technology Co., Ltd. was the largest domestic supplier of UPS batteries in 2020, according to ICT Research, China's largest market research firm.

According to the report, KSTAR held an overall market share of 13.8%, with UPS battery shipments reaching RMB 211 million over the 12-month period, despite the changing business landscape brought about by the pandemic. The finance, telecommunications, government, education and transport industries contributed most to market growth.

China's new infrastructure development plan is driving demand for UPS systems. As a key component of uninterruptible power supplies, the growing adoption of UPS systems is also increasing demand for UPS batteries. In 2020, the Chinese UPS battery market reached a total value of RMB 1.5 billion, with a growth rate of -1.8%.

In 2019, KSTAR signed a strategic partnership with Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited (CATL), a global leader in lithium-ion battery development and manufacturing, to develop advanced lithium battery packs. The partnership is expected to further strengthen KSTAR's leading position in China's UPS battery market.
