Kstar launches the latest 1,500 V string inverter
Industry Trends News, 2020.8.28
The transformerless 250 kW inverter offers a reported maximum efficiency of 99% and a European efficiency rating of 98.5%.
Chinese inverter manufacturer Shenzhen Kstar Science and Technology has unveiled the KSG-200UH and KSG-250UH, a new series of 1,500 V string inverters for large-scale applications.
The transformerless 250 kW inverter measures 1,055 × 700 × 336 mm and weighs 110 kg. It features 12 maximum power point tracking (MPPT) channels and 24 string inputs. The MPPT voltage range is 600–1,500 V, and the inverter operates at ambient temperatures ranging from -25°C to 60°C.
According to the manufacturer, the inverter features an arc-fault protection function that accurately detects arc faults and shuts down the inverter within 2.5 seconds. It also includes a potential-induced degradation (PID) recovery function to help maintain the performance of PV modules.

"The anti-PID module shifts the PV potential to ground above zero and prevents the PID effect," the company explained. "The high-precision RCD protection circuit helps ensure personal safety."
Kstar added that the inverter's IP66 protection rating and C5 corrosion protection design enable it to operate in harsh environmental conditions. "The length of the product and performance warranty depends on a project's size and characteristics," the company added.
